Seeds of Hope for 30 Mothers

Nakaseke-1
Thanks to your generosity, Project Matthew has recently planted seeds of hope among two groups of single mothers in Uganda! We are so grateful for your support and for God’s help in enabling these women and their children to become food secure.

We enrolled 20 women of the Nakaseke District—a rural area north of Kampala—in our Farmer Entrepreneurship Program. They received advanced agricultural training, as well as quality corn and bean seeds which will be planted for food in their community garden. The surplus harvested will be used for income generation, allowing these mothers to pay other expenses including medical and school fees.

The profits will also be reinvested into more quality seeds for the following planting season. This community of Farmer Entrepreneurs in Nakaseke is grateful they can feed their families through the new skills and resources they have received.

Women from the Suubi group in Namasuba receive training in our Garden to Plate Program

Ten women from the Suubi group in Namasuba—a suburb of Kampala—were trained in our Garden to Plate Program where they learned how to process, package and sell food products for income generation.

These ladies received two training sessions on how to make healthy, high-quality peanut paste. They were also given a peanut processing machine, along with information on how to successfully manage their own start-up business. In addition, they were enrolled in our Nourish program which provides them with emergency food rations as they move towards becoming self-reliant.

The Suubi women are thrilled this opportunity will enable them to become food secure and help them provide for their children and themselves.

Thank you for planting seeds of hope for these women and their children! We look forward to seeing what God will do next!
